CATEGORIES OF DOJO MEMBERSHIP

Active

The majority of dojos will fall under this category. An Active Member Club is a karate club that has a minimum of five (5) Active Members and:

·       at least one of the Active Members is certified as a coach according to the rules of OKF and Karate Canada; and

·       has bylaws and policies consistent with those of OKF.

A delegate from the Active Member Club is asked to attend all indicated meetings and the AGM. The delegate will represent the club in matters put to a vote.

Associate

An Associate Member Club is a karate club that does not fulfill the requirements of an Active Member Club. Limitations on their involvement will include: surcharges for some events or services, unable to vote.

CATEGORIES OF INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS

All individuals must be registered through a dojo membership. Individual participant fees include the portion owed to Karate Canada for each individual.

Recreational

A Recreational Participant is an individual who is affiliated with an Active Member Club or an Associate Member Club and who participates in karate for the purposes of fitness and recreation, but not for competition. Should an individual in this category decide to participate in events that require an active membership category, the appropriate fee will be levied and category change implemented.

Active / Competitive

An Active Participant is an individual who is affiliated with an Active Member Club or an Associate Member Club and who is actively engaged in karate as a competitor, coach or official. Attendance at any competitions, educational seminars, etc will require this category of participant membership.
